Dallas Raceway has sold and will no longer be a drag racing venue. The land was purchased by Tim Jordan who plans to move his truck salvage company to that location.  It is a shame to see that "concrete palace" used for something other than a race track.   If you want to make some 1/4 mile passes close to DFW, Texas Motorplex in Ennis is one of the best 1/4 tracks in the country.  Texas Motorplex was opened in 1986 and is still going strong.

Based on requests received during 2013 from V-Series owners not located in the State of Texas the Board of Directors recently voted to offer an Affiliate level of membership to non residents of Texas.  This new membership level will allow V-Series owners access to the member's only section of the website and Affiliate members will also receive an official Texas V-Club shirt and membership Id card.

In addition, any time an Affiliate member is visiting Texas or attending a V-Club sponsored event in Texas, they will be able to take advantage of any amenities offered such as free meals or event discounts.  Affiliate members may also purchase V-Club emblem inserts, accessories and apparel from our online product catalog.

As an Affiliate member, you will be able to connect with other V-Series owners who are members of the Texas V-Club and you will also contribute to our growth.

Congratulations to our newest member, Kevin Thompson of Cedar Park, Texas for being the 150th member of the Texas V-Club.  Kevin will receive a special gift along with his official V-Club shirt and membership id card.

In less than one year the V-Club has grown from a small charter group of 10 members to 150 thanks to the commitment of each member and our sponsors who have helped promote the V-Club.  We are working on a schedule of events for 2014 that include not only competitive events, but some special scenic cruises and club meetings at a couple of resorts in Texas.

With over 400 registered V-Series owners in Texas plus new V's and V-Sports being sold daily, we are excited about the opportunity for growth and expansion of the club.

A very special "thank you" to our title sponsor, Sewell & Ken Batchelor Cadillac and as well as our other V-Club sponsors.  Their support and commitment to the V-Club has been key to our success.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

You might not be aware of this law but a V-Club member was recently stopped and given a warning ticket for no license plates on the front of his V.

If your vehicle doesn’t have a front license plate, or a rear one for that matter, you’re looking at a $200 fine as of September 1, 2013.  Guess you should be glad you only got a warning ticket.

For the past two years, until Sept. 1, any motorist in the state of Texas who was stopped for not having a front or rear Texas license plate could not be fined. That’s right. Not be fined.

Legislators in 2011 accidentally removed the punishment portion of the license plate law. (Uh-oh.) The law was on the books, but the fine was inadvertently deleted. That made traffic cops much less likely to make stops for a missing front plate. They could write tickets with no fine.

In Texas, a law enforcement officer is allowed to stop any vehicle if a front or rear license plate is missing. It’s the same as an officer making a stop when a driver runs a stop sign, makes an improper lane change or, everybody’s favorite, drives too slow.

Now, with the punishment tacked back on to the law, the fine for a missing front or rear plate is specifically set at no more than $200.

I looked up the recorded vote this year for House Bill 625, author, Rep. Linda Harper-Brown, R-Irving. The state Senate voted 31-0 for the new law; the House voted 139-4.

San Antonio and Houston police departments lobbied for it. Summarizing, they said both front and rear plates make it easier and safer for police to do their jobs. You can expect more officers to make no-front-plate stops.

The potential fine is worth the time now to pull somebody over now that it is a traffic violation.  Officers will check for driver’s license, insurance and any outstanding warrants.

As of Sept. 1, 2013, it is required that all registered vehicles, including commercial vehicles, must display both front and rear plates.
“An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200.”
