August 2, 2026 — In a chaotic, six-hour endurance battle defined by late-race restarts, severe collisions, and high-stakes drama, Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) emerged victorious at the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America. Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor, driving the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R, delivered a masterclass in survival and speed to take the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class win. The triumph marked WTR’s first overall IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship victory in over two years, as well as its inaugural GTP win since partnering back with General Motors under the Cadillac banner.

Navigating the Road America Mayhem

The 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit lived up to its reputation for relentless action. Expanded from its traditional sprint format into a grueling six-hour Michelin Endurance Cup event, the race featured nine Full-Course Yellow (FCY) periods that routinely bunched up the field. The pivotal sequence began with roughly an hour and a half remaining. Following back-to-back restarts, Albuquerque engineered a brilliant pass up the inside of Turn 1 to overtake sister-car driver Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R. Strategic timing further sealed the win for WTR. With 45 minutes to go, Albuquerque ducked into the pit lane for his final stop just seconds before a caution flag flew for a stranded GTD entry, allowing the No. 10 car to hold track position while competitors were forced to wait for pits to open.

"It felt like torture, going to the racetrack every weekend, getting killed," Ricky Taylor admitted after the race, addressing WTR's previous struggles. "It's been hard. But thanks to Cadillac for sticking behind us, they've been so supportive."

Late-Race Restarts and a Dramatic Finale

While Albuquerque controlled the lead out front, pure bedlam erupted behind him in the dying minutes. With ten minutes remaining on the final restart, a high-speed battle for second place turned dangerous. Kévin Estre in the No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 and Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Cadillac made contact heading into Turn 1 at top speed, sending both machines hurtling into the tire barriers. Both drivers walked away uninjured, but the resulting wreckage brought out a final caution, freezing the field and ensuring the race finished under yellow flag conditions.
