Championship Sweep Sealed at the Start

Cadillac Racing wrapped up an extraordinary 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, clinching the prestigious GTP Manufacturer’s Championship at the 29th Motul Petit Le Mans. The milestone victory capped off a dominant campaign for the American brand, sealing a sweep of the top-tier Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) honors—including the Drivers', Teams', and Manufacturers' titles.

Heading into the 10-hour season finale on the 2.54-mile, 12-turn Braselton circuit, Cadillac held an unassailable lead in the points standings following a stellar qualifying performance. The moment the green flag dropped, Cadillac officially secured its 11th IMSA Manufacturer’s Championship and fifth prototype manufacturer crown since 2017.

The trifecta of championships for Cadillac Racing included:

  • IMSA GTP Manufacturer’s Championship: Cadillac

  • IMSA GTP Drivers’ Championship: Jack Aitken

  • IMSA GTP Teams’ Championship: No. 31 Action Express Racing / Whelen Cadillac

Aitken and Action Express Racing Deliver Podium

Driver Jack Aitken entered the weekend needing only to start the race to lock up his maiden IMSA GTP Drivers' Championship. Partnering with co-drivers Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti in the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, Aitken took the opening stint off the grid to make the championship official before handing off to Bamber.

The achievement marked a career highlight for Aitken and reflected the relentless execution of Gary Nelson’s Action Express Racing crew throughout the season, who engineered the No. 31 prototype to peak performance across sprint and endurance rounds alike.

Battle on the Track: Road Atlanta Drama

While the titles were secured as the cars crossed the starting line, the 10-hour Petit Le Mans race itself delivered no shortage of action. Featuring heavy traffic, multi-class battles, weather shifts, and full-course cautions, Cadillac’s full fleet of V-Series.R prototypes fought near the front of the GTP pack.

  • Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (WTR): The No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, and Will Stevens controlled the pace through the middle portion of the race, leading a Cadillac 1-2 effort at the halfway mark.

  • No. 40 Entry: Jordan Taylor, Louis Delétraz, and Colton Herta kept the pressure on rival factory teams in mixed weather conditions, reinforcing Cadillac's depth across the GTP grid.

The Legacy of the Cadillac V-Series.R

Powered by its naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine mated to the standardized GTP hybrid unit, the Cadillac V-Series.R has proven to be a cornerstone of modern sports car endurance racing. Adding the 2026 IMSA Manufacturer's Championship to Cadillac’s resume highlights the brand's engineering prowess against premier international competition.

With three primary trophies heading back to Detroit, Cadillac Racing leaves Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta as the undisputed authority of North American sports car racing in 2026.
