Follow the River. Enjoy the Roads. Start a New Tradition.

Join us for a relaxed fall drive through the Fox River Valley, featuring approximately 45 miles of scenic riverfront roads, historic communities, a stop at the iconic Fabyan Windmill, and lunch in downtown Algonquin.

We’ll begin in Oswego and follow the river north through Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, and South Elgin before finishing with a waterside approach into Algonquin.

This is our first time running this route and visiting Cattleman’s Burger and Brew. With a strong turnout and a great day on the road, we hope to make the Fox River Valley Scenic Drive an annual Chicagoland Chapter tradition.

IL-31 North through Batavia

Fabyan Forest Preserve – Geneva

IL-31 North through St. Charles and South Elgin
↓
River Drive / McHenry County Scenic Drive

Cattleman’s Burger and Brew – Algonquin

The route covers approximately 45 miles, with about two hours of driving plus the mid-route stop.

Event Schedule

☕ 9:30–10:15 AM — Meet, Coffee and Driver Briefing

We’ll gather at Starbucks in Oswego to:

  • Meet fellow members
  • Grab coffee
  • Review the route
  • Assign lead and sweep vehicles
  • Prepare for departure

10:15 AM — Southern Leg Departure

We’ll travel toward the Fox River, follow IL-25 north through the Aurora area, and transition to IL-31 through Batavia.

11:00–11:45 AM — Fabyan Forest Preserve

We’ll stop in Geneva for approximately 45 minutes to:

  • Stretch our legs
  • Regroup the cars
  • Take group photos
  • Visit the historic Fabyan Windmill

11:45 AM — Northern Scenic Cruise

We’ll continue north through Geneva, St. Charles, and South Elgin before following River Drive along the water toward Algonquin.

1:00 PM — Lunch at Cattleman’s Burger and Brew

We’ll finish the drive with lunch, conversation, and time to recap the route.

2:00 PM — Event Wrap-Up

  • Arrive with a full tank of fuel.
  • Lead and sweep vehicles will be assigned.
  • Maintain safe spacing and obey all traffic laws.
  • If separated, proceed to the next scheduled stop.
  • This is a relaxed scenic drive, not a timed road rally.
  • Route timing may vary with weekend traffic.
