For years, automotive industry watchers assumed the supercharged, three-pedal American muscle sedan was on its deathbed. Cadillac’s initial commitment to transition to a fully electric vehicle lineup by 2030 seemed to set a strict expiration date on the beloved V-Series sedans. However, shifted market dynamics, ongoing demand for ICE performance, and Cadillac’s broader luxury strategy—including its upcoming entry into Formula 1—have reshaped the brand's trajectory. Cadillac has pivoted to offer a "luxury of choice," extending the life of its internal combustion powerplants alongside its growing electric portfolio.

Cadillac confirmed that the current CT4 and CT5 lineups, including their high-performance V-Series variants, will end production after the 2026 model year.

CADILLAC CT5-V & CT5-V BLACKWING
The current iteration of the midsize track-ready icon concludes its run in late 2026, marking the end of the original Alpha platform era. The CT5-V Blackwing — the last ICE V8, manual, rear-wheel-drive four-door sedan sold in America — is confirmed to end production in December 2026. The supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 making 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque, mated to a Tremec TR6060 six-speed, is going away on schedule. The final-year F1 Collector Series, limited to 26 units and bumped to 685 horsepower, is the send-off.

THE FUTURE (Next-Gen ICE Sedan Confirmed) 
The V-Series isn't dying with the 2026 model year; it is being re-engineered. Cadillac confirmed that a next-generation gasoline-powered CT5 is in development and will be produced at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan. Expected to arrive for the 2028 or 2029 model year, this vehicle will serve as the flagship for Cadillac's traditional performance lineup.

Cadillac Vice President of Global Operations Kristian Aquilina confirmed the brand is now explicitly building a portfolio that supports both powertrains, stating the company will "continue to deliver leading EVs while updating our ICE portfolio to the same high standards." That last phrase — updating the ICE portfolio — is the one worth paying attention to. It signals renewed investment in internal combustion models rather than an accelerated phase-out. By maintaining gas-powered V-Series sedans into the late 2020s and early 2030s, Cadillac preserves its high-performance heritage, ensuring enthusiasts have access to raw combustion power even as the rest of the automotive landscape shifts to electric drive systems.
