A High-Performance Driving Event (HPDE) is an organized track day event where enthusiasts drive their own cars on a racing circuit to improve their driving skills in a safe, structured, and controlled environment. HPDE is not racing; it is an educational, non-competitive experience often featuring instructors for Novice driver run groups.

Key Details About HPDE:

  • Structure: Participants are divided into skill-level groups (typically Novice to Advanced), with Novice drivers paired with either a full-time or part-time instructor for in-car coaching.
  • Safety First: Events emphasize safety with classroom sessions, corner workers, and for novices, restricted passing rules (in designated areas on track with a point-by).
  • Vehicle Requirements: Any safe, street-worthy car can participate, though a tech inspection is highly recommended to ensure the vehicle meets all track requirements.
  • Goal: The focus is on learning proper high-speed driving techniques, car control, and track etiquette, rather than competing for speed or awards. An HPDE event is not a race!
